Prices of many things in Malaysia have risen sharply since 2009 but food is still pretty cheap and still excellent quality. The weather seems to have changed quite a bit too and even though I had just come from the middle of a scorching Australian summer, I felt that the heat in Malaysia was even worse.
Here are a selection of pictures of the food I had while I was there plus some touristy pics. Hopefully the food pics will make you hungry and inspire you to cook some amazing food of your own, enjoy!
Tosai - Great cheap Indian food
Not much meat and veggies but oh the flavour of those gravies and less than $1 Australian!
Up market, Japanese food in Shah Alam. Still only about $10 Australia a head.
Rice porridge, tasty and very filling.
Noodles are probably even more popular than rice.
Pows again (same place as in my first picture blog).
Simple street food in Sri Kota.
Satay to die for at the Satay Station in Shah Alam - my home turf.
Better than Kajang satay.
Indian mamak shop
A good restaurant seems to be around just about every corner.
Local food in Klang.
Another mamak shop this time in Sri Muda.
Can you small how good that is ?
Oh Yum! Roti, cheap, filling, tasty, can you ask for more?
A lot of dishes are almost soupy but they all taste amazing.
Guess what? Roti again!
Thick fresh noodles are so much better than the dried variety.
Eating out is so cheap just about everyone does it regularly.
A quick trip to Ipoh.
Dim sum, the ultimate finger food.
Well known dim sum restaurant in Ipoh.
Dim sum is mostly steamed in large bamboo containers.
Local shopping in Sri Kota
Restoran Soon Fatt - Hmm, better not eat there then (haha).
Fruit at a roadside rest stop.
Nice hotel in Ipoh - The Rega Lodge
