SILVER BEET & PORK

 

INGREDIENTS

 

150g Diced Pork
1/2 bunch Silver beet chopped
2 cloves Garlic finely chopped
1/2 inch Ginger minced
1 tbsp Oyster sauce
1 tsp Sugar
1 cap Chinese rice wine
1 Chicken stock cube
1/4 tsp Five spice powder
4 inch strip Pork fat & skin, chopped
2 tbsp Cooking oil
4 tbsp Water
Pinch of MSG (optional)
Salt to taste

METHOD

 

 

After chopping the pork meat rub in the 5 spice powder and a sprinkle of salt then set aside in a dish until needed.

Wash the silver beet to remove any sand.

When chopping the silver beet separate the white stalks from the green leaves. Keep both in separate bowls until needed.

Heat oil in a fry pan and add the pork fat. Fry until the fat turns a bit brown.

 


Add the garlic and fry until fragrant.

 


Add ginger.

 


Add the pork.

 


Add the stock cube and break it up in the pan.

 


Add salt.

 


Add sugar.

 


Add the silver beet stalks and cook for a minute or two.

 


Add the silver beet leaves.

 


Add oyster sauce and stir through.

 


Add MSG (optional)

Add water.
Add rice wine.

 


Cook until the leaves are starting to soften a bit.

 


Serve with boiled rice and your choice of meat dish.
