DAIKON WITH PORK

 

 

 

INGREDIENTS

 

200g Pork meat diced

1 Leek sliced into rings

1 Daikon radish

1 Star anise (broken up)

2 cm Ginger minced

2 tsp Corn flour

1 tsp Sugar

2 tsp Light soya sauce
2 tsp Shao Xing wine

1 1/2 cups Water

3 tbsp Cooking oil

2 pinches MSG

Salt to taste

METHOD

 

 

 

Put the diced pork meat in a small bowl and add 1 tsp soya sauce

 

 

Add 1 tsp shao xing wine

 

 

Add sugar

 

 

Add corn flour

 

 

mix together well

 

 

Peel the skin off the daikon and cut the radish into wedges

 

 

Cut the leek into rings

 

 

Heat cooking oil in a saucepan on high heat

 

 

When the oil is very hot add the pork meat and stir fry until browned

 

 

Remove the pork and put aside in a bowl

 

 

Return pot to the stove and add star anise

 

 

Add the leek

 

 

Add daikon

 

 

Add salt

 

 

Add sugar

 

 

Add ginger

 

 

Add water and turn heat to medium

 

 

Cover and cook for about 5 minutes

 

 

Return the pork meat to the pot

 

 

Add 1 tsp soya sauce

 

 

Add 1 tsp shao xing wine and turn heat to low

 

 

Cover and cook for 30 minutes

 

 

Add MSG (optional)

 

 

Serve on boiled rice
