Lake Nunijup is located in the Cranbrook shire off Stockyard Road.
Once a major leisure site for people in the shire it was used for swimming and even water skiing but these days the water levels are much too low and
the water quality can be poor so water based activities not recommended.
There is still a club-house on the site that looks like it is still used from time to time. Next to this are the remnants of what used to be the tennis courts.
The local ranger patrols the area and checks in on most days to make sure the facilities are all ok.
There are flushing toilets and water available. The lake is surrounded by bushland and this attracts a number of native birds.
It is a lovely quiet spot and although it is not an authorised campsite, it is often used as an overnight rest area by caravanners and motorhomers.
People looking for a longer term campsite can go to nearby Poorrarecup Lake which is an authorised site.
