THE BOOTMAKER AND THE TAILOR -
A notice in the press.
‘A Warning: There is a crowd of boys in the habit of annoying the shopkeepers and others at the upper end of Throssel Street at night time. Some little time back a shop window was broken by these young scamps who are not too particular about their behaviour or their language. The promise of the writer to introduce his bootmaker to their tailor has not deterred the most precocious of these insects, therefore at the earliest opportunity the promise will be vigorously fulfilled.’
A quite polite way of saying the writer is going to kick the offenders in the backside we assume...
