Nukarni is a location on the road from Merredin to Nungarin and at the time
we visited was nothing more than a few houses and a hall (see picture above).
The Heritage Council website states the following about the hall:
"The original weather-board and iron building under a Dutch Gable roof has a full width kitchen addition at the rear, under a skillion roof, with an external brick chimney. On the south side there is a clumsy fibro and iron patch addition, with an external door facing east. There is an outdoor barbecue area,
fenced with corrugated fibro, on the north side."
Sadly the hall has since been demolished sometime between 2016 and 2018. There is nothing we can find online to indicate
why such an important historical building was destroyed.
Just south of where the hall once stood is a large grain receival bin.
Nukarni is one of those locations that we can find virtually no information about, and if we hadn't visited the place ourselves, we would barely
be aware of its existance.
The fact that a hall was built there means that at one time it was an important social hub for the area.
