Located just 7 kilometres from Bencubbin the rock is a popular place to camp.
There are in fact two rocks and the campsite is located between them.
Facilities include BBQs, Shelter, seats, tables, toilets and even a water tank.
There is a track leading to the top of the rock that you can either walk, or drive up.
There are other tracks leading around the rock that are worth exploring, especially in springtime when the wildflowers are in bloom.
Currently there are no fees for camping at the rock.
There is good mobile phone reception and there is plenty of shade. The site is suitable for all sorts of campers and
there is plenty of room.
John Roe was
one of the first Europeans to explore the area around Marshall Rock as he led an expedition east from York.
The rock was named after Captain Marshall McDermott who was an early settler in the Swan River Colony.
Other nearby campsites include Waddouring Dam and Lake McDermott.
