DESCRIPTION

 

A roadhouse and useful refueling point on the long drive north. Like most roadhouses, there is no mechanic here.

 

The tiny town was once known as West Dandaragan.

 

In 1989 a mineral sands mine opened in the area.

 

2 kilometres south east of Cataby is an importantr bird breeding area where there is a population of short-billed black cockatoo.

 

In 2014 a Malaysian based company, Brahim's Holdings, was negotiating with the state government regarding starting an abbatoir in the area.
