Located 657km north of Perth this roadhouse is one of the remote refuelling spots on the long drive north. The roadhouse is roughly half way between Geraldton and Carnarvon as well as being about half way between Perth and Exmouth.

Commonly referred to as just Billabong, a town site was gazetted here in 1963 under the name of Wannoo that comes from the Aboriginal word for a type of wattle that inhabits the area.

There are caravan, motel and restaurant facilities located here.
