This park is located right on the doorstep of Kununurra and if you are unable to get to see the Bungle Bungle while you
are in the Kimberley region, then Hidden Valley will give you a small glimpse of what the major park has to offer.
The rock formations in the park are believed to be about 350 million years old. The sandstone is easily eroded and wind and rain have created the interesting shapes
and gullies the we see today. The rocks were originally sediments deposited by creeks and wind-blown sand.
The park was declared in 1982 and covers 2,067 hectares. There are 4 different walk trails in the park.
The easiest trail is the 400 metre, Looking at Plants walk trail loop has a wheelchair friendly boardwalk.
Gerliwany-gerring Banan Trail is 2.2km return and is moderate difficulty.
Another moderate difficulty trail is the Demboong Banan Trail that leads through a gap in the sandstone formations and is 500 metres return.
A more difficult trail is the 800 metre return, Derdbe-gerring Banan Trail rises to points overlooking Kununurra.
Animals you may encounter in the park include, agile wallabies, short-eared rock-wallabies, dingoes, back kites, double-barred finches, crimson finches and
white-quilled rock-pigeons.
